Your scope of work will vary depending on business needs, including: Auditing, Corporate Finance, Corporate Services, Financial Planning, Internal Control, People management, Projects, Taxation, Treasury, and/or others.


OUR 2 PROGRAMMES


Our Group Staff and House Staff both offer an in-depth understanding of the business and the experience to move into senior financial leadership roles, but they do have some key differences. Please read our description and requirements below so that you can decide which one is right for you to apply.

Group Staff

You will gain exposure to our public companies while building a solid foundation centred on Hong Kong and Mainland China. Throughout your career, you will work with some of the most established experts in the region.

House Staff

You will gain exposure to our public and private companies while exploring various locations around the world. Throughout your global
career, you will work in entrepreneurial and corporate environments with some of the brightest minds in the business.

Candidates with significant work experience may be placed in a higher-level role.

Qualifications and Requirements

What you will need:

  • 3+ years of full-time work experience in multinational companies; audit experience essential
  • Experience in any of the Big 4 accountancy firms will be highly advantageous
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
  • Qualified accountants preferred, but not essential
  • Strong desire to gain commercial experience

Group Staff

  • Passionate about developing a long-term career in Mainland China and Hong Kong
  • Citizen of People’s Republic of China (PRC) or have Right of Abode in Hong Kong SAR
  • Fluency in English and Putonghua

House Staff

  • Geographic mobility; strong desire to gain
    international experience; flexibility to move from one location to another on short notice
  • Fluency in English; Putonghua would be a plus

The Group Staff Finance Programme is distinctive because you’re not restricted to one particular business area. You get exposure to all the different stages of the supply chain - from manufacturing to retail services - and come into contact with lots of different business functions. I get to see the scope of work we do, from Hong Kong to cities all over Mainland China. It’s a great opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the group.

I was made to feel part of the Swire family straight away. Something that became clear very quickly was that people here really value work-life balance - which is a contrast from my previous professional auditing experience - but they’re dedicated to creating consistently excellent work. Though collaborators have high expectations of each other, they’re supportive and eager to find ways to help when things get busy. The programme has definitely exceeded my expectations so far – both in terms of the culture and the level of exposure I’ve had.

Right now I’m looking forward to getting involved in a new joint venture together with the preparation of the company’s annual budget. I’m keen to be really hands-on and learn as much as I can. My top tip for anyone who wants to join Swire on this programme is to be confident and be yourself. I’ve always wanted to live and work in Asia. I’ve been working in our head office in Hong Kong for 3 years now and I haven’t looked back. As well as taking on lots of responsibility early on, like overseeing the production of our annual report, I get the chance to interact with the group’s different businesses around the world. Few programmes offer qualified accountants the same variety and challenge.

Being surrounded by fantastic people is the best thing about working here. At all levels, people are professional, approachable and good-humoured – it really is a great working environment. Something that struck me soon after I joined is that Swire’s values aren’t just business jargon. People really identify with them and put them into practice every day. The training you get on the House Staff Finance Programme is amazing. I spent two weeks at INSEAD in Singapore, a leading business school, learning about all kinds of subjects from marketing to strategy. It was a brilliant experience. With Swire, you never stop learning. Every project has its own unique demands and opportunities, so you’re constantly developing your skills. And with lots of exposure to senior management, you learn from the top. I can’t wait for my next big challenge.

The primary differentiators between Group Staff and House Staff include global mobility, language fluency and citizenship requirements. You can familiarize yourself with the qualifications and requirements for each here.
You should only apply to one of them. We will process one application from each candidate, so please choose the one that best fits your qualifications.
We do not have a quota for our Group Staff or House Staff positions. Our annual intake varies according to the calibre of candidates and our current business requirements.
Remuneration and benefit packages for Group Staff and House Staff may vary in accordance with local conditions and will be dependent on experience. Candidates will be able to obtain further information about salaries and benefits during the selection process.
