The initial three-week Group Induction Programme includes briefings from senior management on business strategy, visits to operating companies in Hong Kong and Mainland China, and one-week intensive financial management and self-awareness programmes. This comprehensive induction programme aims to provide trainees with a taste of the group's diversity and prepare them for future challenges.
Regular job rotationsDuring their three-year on-the-job training, trainees will receive regular job rotations within the same business stream, with the aim of developing a wide spectrum of experience, an open mind and a broad understanding of different aspects of Swire's business and management. Trainees may also be seconded to operating companies overseas, to further broaden their horizons and enhance their knowledge of the group, while developing their critical thinking, leadership skills and adaptability to change.
Guidance from senior managementThe trainees will each work under a senior executive to gain first hand experience in the daily work of a manager and learn advanced management concepts and strategic thinking. This arrangement will sharpen the vision and broaden the horizon of the trainees.
Assistance of a mentorDuring the programme, trainees will each be assigned a mentor. Many mentors have themselves been management trainees, and draw on their own experiences to support and guide with understanding and empathy. This mentorship with a personal touch will further enhance the guidance and support given to the trainees.
Ongoing trainingSwire offers its trainees comprehensive, ongoing training in negotiation skills, leadership, business etiquette, problem solving, decision-making, business ethics and corporate social responsibility. These diverse training programmes will be conducted by our own experienced trainers as well as by external consultants and institutions, with the aim of moulding the trainees into outstanding managers.
